Psychotherapy / Counselling Service
Who am I?
I am a qualified psychotherapist/counsellor with a private practice in very peaceful surroundings in Croydon, Surrey. I also have access to consulting rooms in central London. For the last 16 years I have delivered therapy to a wide range of people in a variety of settings, and I also have 15 years experience of carrying out (published) research into a range of mental health, child development and quality of life issues.
What’s my orientation?
I offer Integrative Psychotherapy with an existential core but also use theories and techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Experiential Therapies, Hypnotherapy and Motivational Enhancement Therapy.
What’s the format of the therapy?
My work is usually conducted one-to-one, for one session per week (although this frequency is sometimes increased), lasting anything between six weeks and two to three years, depending on my client’s needs.
What issues do my clients bring to therapy?
My clients have brought issues including: eating problems; depression; anxiety; stress; addictions; bereavement; obsessive compulsive disorder; panic problems; phobias; relationship difficulties; interpersonal problems; sexual problems; sleep difficulties; problems associated with learning disabilities; habit/tic disorders; chronic fatigue; chronic pain; work problems; post-traumatic stress; general stress; abuse issues; and anger problems. This list is not exhaustive – I am prepared to work with whatever problem a client is prepared to bring.
What types of people do I work with?
I work with people from all nationalities, all ethnicities, all faiths, all sexual orientations, all degrees of ‘able-bodiedness’, from adolescence upwards.
What are the safeguards?
I am bound by the code of ethics approved by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am eligible for BACP accreditation, carry adequate professional indemnity insurance and have weekly supervision. I am also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
How much does the therapy cost?
£45 per session/assessment in Surrey; begins at £65 per assessment/session in central London.
