My name is Sarah Victor and I am a practising counsellor and therapist working in Birmingham. I am committed to providing affordable counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
I work with individuals – either on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period - with the aim of providing them with an opportunity to work towards living in a more satisfying, fulfilling and resourceful way.
Sessions take place in a clean, comfortable, private, purpose-built centre in the heart of Birmingham City, within minutes’ walk from the Bullring shopping centre and easy walking distance of Birmingham New Street (about 10 minutes), Moor Street (about 5 minutes) and Snow Hill (about 15 minutes) railway stations.
Sessions are weekly, and last for 50 minutes. Counselling takes place on a one-to-one basis, in a private setting.
First, give me a ring on 07805620525, so that we can have a brief conversation on the phone.
If we both think it appropriate, we will arrange a first session (or two) which will be primarily for us to see how we feel about working together. I will ask you a series of questions in order to understand how you are feeling, what has prompted you to seek counselling and how I may be able to help you. This is also your opportunity to ask me anything and decide whether you wish to continue working with me. You may decide that I am not the right counsellor for you, in which case we will make no further appointments. You may wish to think about it and contact me at a later date. Both are fine. It is also possible that I will decide I am not the most suitable counsellor for you at this point; in this case I would tell you and explain why, and will try to advise you on an alternative route.
If we decide to go ahead after the initial session(s), we will then agree a contract of working which will outline the frequency of sessions (weekly), the time of the session, confidentiality, data protection, complaints procedure etc.
I look forward to hearing from you on 07805 620525.
When you ring you may get an answer phone as obviously I will not answer the phone when working. Be assured that no one else will hear your message. I will call you back as soon as possible but to protect your confidentiality I will not leave a message on your answer phone except to say my name and that I called. If even this is inappropriate, then please let me know.

I am currently in the 3rd year (Post Graduate Diploma Stage) of a four year (part-time) Masters (MA) Integrative Psychotherapy course with The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI) and Birmingham University, working towards United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) registration.
I have completed the Post Graduate Certificate Stage of the course and am currently registered as a “UKCP Candidate in Training”, and a student member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I also hold a Bachelor of Honours degree with the University of Brighton.
I am registered with and adhere to the Ethical Code of the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute which is a constituent member of the UKCP. All my client work is supervised by a UKCP registered supervisor.
I have expereince of working with the following issues:
* Low self-esteem
* Panic attacks
* Bereavement loss
* Anger management
* Relationship problems
* Childhood problems
* Issues of isolation or loneliness
* Work dissatisfaction
* Addictions of various kinds
* Eating disorders
* A sense that life could be of a better quality
* A loss of a sense of direction and purpose
Counselling does not involve giving advice or directing a client to take a particular course of action. The outcome of the work between a client and their counsellor will be dependent on a variety of dynamics - the effectiveness of the counsellor, the limitations of the approach, the commitment and effort from the client and the complexity of the issues brought. Counselling does not offer a “magic wand” and entering into it requires serious consideration.
An initial consultation will give you the opportunity to decide whether counselling is a suitable way forward for you.
In the counselling sessions the client can explore various aspects of their life and feelings, talking about them freely and openly in a way that is rarely possible with friends or family. Bottled-up feelings such as anger, anxiety, grief and embarrassment can become very intense and counselling offers an opportunity to explore them, with the possibility of making them easier to understand. The counsellor will encourage the expression of feelings and as a result of their training will be able to accept and reflect the client’s problems without becoming burdened by them.
I aim to provide an affordable service, and charge £25.00 per session.
